Cold wet sunday mornings warming the subs bench for a five-a-side football team have never really been considered inspirational. But, it was on the sidelines of a low rank Brighton Sunday League team that Fujiya & Miyagi was conceived by David Best and Steve Lewis, a meeting that soon led to the acclaimed release of their first album in 2002 Electro Karaoke in the Negative Style.

It was the release of their second album Transparent Things however, in early 2007 that truly put Fujiya & Miyagi on the map. Literally, between March and December, the band played over 130 shows, including four US tours – one supporting young Swedish folks Peter Bjorn and John – and numerous festivals in the UK and Europe.
